On Saturday, June 6th Washington Redskins Defensive Tackle Chris “Swaggy” Baker laced up his cleats for The Chris Baker 92 Foundation Youth Football Camp. The camp took place at Prince George’s County Sports & Learning Complex from 9am – 1pm and brought together over 250 youth ages 10 to 14 to participate in a variety of non-contact football drills.
Baker, along with several teammates and local youth coaches led kids through offensive and defensive skill and agility drills. Attendees learned more than just football as Baker and the coaching staff discussed the importance of hard work, healthy living, and pursuing an education. Baker and celebrity coaches signed autographs and hosted a BBQ for participants following the event.
The Chris Baker 92 Foundation was established to provide literacy education, support/mentorship groups and life skills programs to children in the Washington, D.C. and Greater Hartford, Connecticut area. The Foundation launched its first literacy program in D.C. in April, and has since expanded to 3 schools. “The Chris Baker 92 Foundation Youth Football Camp is really about teaching these kids the importance of staying in school and being active,” Baker said. “I hope that I showed them how rewarding it can be to work hard in the classroom, on the football field, and in the community.”
The camp was made possible by NAI Michael, Ourisman Honda Bethesda, Kratz Auto Supplies, Perennial Sports and Entertainment, and Brant Sports Group.
